Winter Preparation Tips Hello Tenants,
Its time to get ready for the fall and winter months ahead. You can help prepare your home by taking a look at your home inside and out. Walk around the home and look at the roof, tree limbs that might be a problem in the strong winds and anything else that might cause damage. Inside you might look for issues like the vinyl floors in the bathroom, loose caulk, tiles that might seem loose etc. I am counting on you to help me be proactive on your property. So, please email me at tenanthotline@gmail.com or write me with any problems you see. You can also call me at 206-271-9622 with any emergencies.
If you have tile in your bathroom I would like for you to contact me also. Recently, I have encountered some unexpected problems that we can avoid if we catch it early enough. So, let me know about your bathroom and we will give it special attention. Other things that we need your input on are caulk, drips under the sink, shingles blown off, water or toilets moving slowly (septic customers) and drains clogged both from the gutters and also in the ground. So, take time to look at these issues this month and let me know if you have any concerns.
Tips for this winter preparation:
1. Clean out fieplace, make sure damper is open before using.
2. Know where your circuit breaker box and water shut off is located.
3. Remove water hose and put faucet covers on before freezing temperatures occur.
4. Protect outside plants from freezing.
5. Test your heater now, and report any problems early. Emergency calls are expensive, so be proactive now. Make sure you are changing your filters often. If you do not know how to change your filter, or if you do not know how to operate your furnace-ask questions now. Also, if you have an electronic air filter; these should be cleaned monthly. If you have electric baseboard-be careful to move drapes or furniture away when in use and wipe off dust before turning on. Vacuuming can prevent burn outs later.
6. Check your dryer vent-is the lint able to move out as needed?
7. Do you have a sump pump under your house? If so, ask me questions if you have any concerns here.
